"Diets Don't Work"

So I am back on my Weight Watcher Plan and have been trying really hard this week to be good. Well at dinner last night Austin noticed that I only have one Chicken Cordon Bleu while he and Tanner had two. I told him that I was on a "diet". His reply was "diets don't work mom, weight watchers works". I laughed and told him that that was what I was doing. I came away from dinner thinking two things, 1) that he watches too much tv (there is a weight watchers commercial that says the same thing) and 2) that I talk about my weight and wanting to lose some way too much (if my kids start saying things like this to me).

I have decided that I need to be a little less verbal, around my kids, about my weight. They don't need to know how chanllenging it for me. And second I think that my kids need to watch a little less tv. Granted they don't watch too much, with homework, dinner and things like that, when they really get to watch it is usually "Little house on the Prarie" and maybe an hour before bed of regular tv.

I really don't set resolutions at the begining of each new year, but losing some weight is something that I want to do, so I try not to think of it as a diet or having to lose so many pounds. I will just be happy with losing some of the unwanted pounds as they see fit to leave my body. But in the mean time I will be trying my best to help them along their way.

What sad news last night, to hear that our Beloved Prophet had passed away. Of course it is only sad to those of us left behind, as he was rejoycing at meeting the Savior and reuniting with his dear wife! It was sad to hear, but I think that we all knew that he wouldn't live forever and that his days were numbered here. He was a old in body, but young in spirit and mind and we were ever so lucky to have him as our Prophet. He had been the prophet since I was a Senior in high school and the one to really give me testimony of our living prophets. I will forever be grateful for endless work and sacrafice on behalf of the saints everywhere. I pray that we all strive to do a little better, be a little better as Pres. Hinckley stated many times. We will love and will miss our Beloved President Hinckley.

For Sale

For Sale one gently used, age 9, creative, sweet(most of the time), caring, understanding little boy. Wait, that would be Austin when he is in a good mood, that doesn't seem to be the case lately. He has decided to show his independence, which isn't a bad thing, only not when it interferes with the way he acts towards me, his mom. He seems to be talking back a lot lately, throwing things, and coping a major attitude with me! This only happens in the afternoon when his dad is at work, of course, and I get to deal with it all by myself. Lucky me! He gets things taken away, privileges gone, bedtime pushed up and things like that and it still doesn't deter him. He is one strong willed boy. (I can't say little boy, seeing how he is almost 10.) I am trying to be patient with him and not lose my cool, and it seems to be working, that makes him stop and think about what is going on and take a breather. Anyways I needed to vent to a moment, I really don't want to sale my child, I just feel like it some days. Doesn't every mom? Well thanks for the listening ear. Germs Anyone?

So it seems like my whole family has been sick with one thing after another since Christmas. We have had head colds, the stomach bug and anything in between. I currently have 2 out of the 4 kids sick with a yucky cold and nasty cough, James has had the head cold for days now and now I feel like I am getting it. Hopefully we will all be getting better soon. But in the mean time, don't you love when the whole family shares germs?!

New Beds

On Sat. we went to St. George looking for some bunkbeds for Logan and Paige, we found some and they were delivered and set up this afternoon. Logan has been very ready for a big bed, seeing how he pretty much took up the whole toddler bed that he was in. And Paige, well I wasn't quite ready for her to be out of her crib, but I didn't have any other choice. It was either, crib and toddler bed, or bunkbeds but not a combination of the two. So we decided to look at bunkbeds. We found a really great deal on them and couldn't pass them up. Poor James he didn't feel well and we were furniture shopping. He really didn't see what I got and hasn't seen them yet, they were delivered after he went to work.

So tonight both Paige and Logan are asleep in their new beds, and I am trying not to worry too much about either of them. Logan is on the top bunk, with a rail on the side. Paige on the bottom with a rail from Wal-mart. I hope that she does okay and doesn't roll off, past the rail.

I also bought some new bedding for them, seeing how I didn't have any. I wanted something that matched, but was for a girl and a boy. We went to Target and found some camo, blue for Logan, pink for Paige. It came with sheet and a comforter, what a great find.

So wish us well in our first night, in new beds!

11 YEARS Ago

11 Years ago James and were married! WOW! How the time has flown by! It was 11 years ago that we were able to seal our love to each other, for eternity. I am such a lucky woman to have found and married such a wonderful man. We have had a great 11 years so far, with many blessings bestowed upon us. We have 4 great kids, all unique and special in their own ways. We have a home. We have merged two extended families into one. What fun it has been.

I don't have enough words to describe my love for my husband. I love him with all my heart, mind and soul. He is a great husband and dad. He is a hard worker and provides for our family. He is always willing to serve his family and others. I love him so much!

We are not doing anything today to celebrate, one because James is sick and two we have a fun filled weekend planned for Feb. 2. We are going to go to the "Blue Man Group" in SLC. This will be our Anniversary celebration along with our birthdays.

A GREAT Read!!

So my mom told me about this great new series of books to read, and haven't been ablt to put them down. The books are "Twilight", "New Moon" and "Eclipse" by Stephenie Meyer. They are sooo good. I started the first book on Thursday and finished it Friday night. I then got the second one on Sat. night and read all day yesterday and finished it last night. My husband thinks Ive gone mad. I am now waiting and trying to talk my mom into giving me the thrid today, she had only read about 50 pages of it and I could have it done by Wen. probably. My sisters are reading them too, so we have been handing them down when we are finished with them. I sure hope that I am able to get the 3rd from my mom, the library doesn't have them in, they get checked out as soon as they get in. Have you ever read a book that you can't put down? These are in that catergory. They are about a young lady who falls in love with a modern day vampire and the struggles that insue becaue of it. They are so good. They aren't all hokey pokey fairtale stuff. I was hesitant about reading them because of vampires, but I am sooo glad that I have read them so far. There are three in the series now and she is coming out with the 4th this fall, so I will have to wait that long to finish reading them and I am bummed. Oh well I will enjoy them for now. I hope that some of you may want to read them because of this and will find them as enjoyable as I have.

Scrapbooking Marathon

The past three days my sister's and I have been scrapbooking. We start around 9 am and finish around 4-5. What fun this has been. We have been able to spend time with each other and talk and get some scrapbooking done at the same time. Jenn has had most of the stuff, that is because she used to work at "ROBERTS" and accumulated ALOT of stuff. Katharine and I have contributed some but Jenn brought the most stuff out. We did this at my house, seeing how I have to babysit and I have more room then either one of them have, to do it at their house.

I was soooo far behind in scrapbooking, um lets see Logan has only a little in his book and Paige had none. So I was really, really behind! When we started I didn't know if I really wanted to get into it, because I am so far behind. But once we started I was one a roll and didn't want to stop. I did five that first day. All in all I got 26 pages done. I did Paige and Logan's in 12 x 12, and Austin and Tanner's in 11 x 8 since that is what their books are in.

We had a great time and are going to try to get together once a month and have a marathon scrapbooking day, WITHOUT kids!

SLEDDING!!

We went sledding today. What a Blast!! We found a HUGE hill and had at it. The size of the hill didn't scare the kids at all, it did mom a little. The kids thought it was so great to have that big of a hill. Logan totally surprised us, in wanting to go by himself all the time. He would go down on his belly, backwards, anyway that he ended up he loved. Austin and Tanner had a blast on the tube, the disc and sled also. Paige on the other hand didn't really like it. Maybe she is too small to enjoy it. She did go down three times, once with me, dad and Austin. She was good until the end when snow would end up in her face from trying to stop. That is another story this hill was so long, that it was quiet the hike back up. And at the end of the hill it started getting muddy and really bumpy so you would try to stop yourself before you hit that part. We spent three hours sledding, it was GREAT fun! What a great way to start the New Year!
